HUDSON, OHIO - Forty-five Hudson Players are in the middle of rehearsing
"Fiddler on the Roof," a show that will fill their stage and warm your
heart.  Hudson Players encourages everyone who wishes to see the show to
purchase their tickets now, as several sell-out shows are expected.
Tickets may be purchased and reserved by calling the Hudson Players
telephone box office 330 655-8522 or by stopping into the Learned Owl
Book Shop.  Groups of 10 or more may purchase discounted tickets
($10.50, normally $12.00) via the telephone box office.
 
"Fiddler on the Roof" performances are February 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28,
29 and March 6, 7 at Hudson's Barlow Community Center.  Shows are Friday
and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm, with a 2:00 pm matinee performance
February 29.  
 
Set in 1905, "Fiddler on the Roof" takes place in Anatevka, a small
Jewish village in Ukraine. The story revolves around a dairyman, Tevye,
and his attempts to preserve his family's traditions.  Tevye must choose
between his own daughter's happiness and the traditions that hold their
community together.  Meanwhile, there are other forces at work -
dangerous forces - which threaten to destroy the very life he is trying
to preserve.
 
Fiddler on the Roof was based on "Tevye and His Daughters" by the
"Jewish Mark Twain," Sholom Aleichem.  While it deals with serious
issues such as persecution and poverty, it is thoroughly entertaining
and a wonderful story for the whole family.  "Fiddler on the Roof"
features such songs as "If I were a Rich Man," "Tradition" and "Sunrise,
Sunset."  It opened on Broadway in 1964 and ran for over three-thousand
performances.
