Pianist sought for upcoming Cleveland Public Theatre production of DOJOJI.

Adapted from an 11th century Japanese legend, DOJOJI tells the story of a
spurned woman whose unrequited love transforms her into a fire-breathing
serpent. Director Jyana S. Gregory and her longtime collaborator, composer
Rika Iino, continue their practice of creating multi-cultural,
multi-disciplinary work combining the performance traditions of East Asia
and the West. In DOJOJI, they choose material that has inspired generations
of artists, from painters and calligraphers to Noh and kabuki performers to
explore the power of uncontrollable passion to provoke the supernatural.

Seeking a classically trained pianist who can improvise in response to text
and movement to perform live on stage with actors. Written music will be
provided, but much of the score will be created in collaboration between
musician, composer, director, and actors during the rehearsal process.
Theater/multimedia collaborative experience a plus.

Rehearsals begin April 13 and will be evenings and weekends. Musician will
only need to be present at select rehearsals.

Performances are May 21-June 5, Thurs-Sat. at 8pm and Sun. at 3pm.

Compensation provided.

Interested musicians should call Jyana S. Gregory, Associate Artistic
Director at Cleveland Public Theatre at 216-631-2727 x210 or email at
