KENT, OHIO - The Kent State University School of Theatre & Dance=20
continues its season with the popular Stephen Schwartz musical,=20
"Children of Eden". Performances run February 20 - 29 in the E. Turner=20
Stump Theatre in the Music & Speech Building on E. Main and Horning=20
Rd., in the city of Kent.  (THERE IS NO PERFORMANCE ON TUESDAY,=20
FEBRUARY 24TH.)  The show is directed by Porthouse Theatre Artistic=20
Director, Terri Kent.=20

Stephen Schwartz is known for his musicals "Godspell" and "Pippin" and=20
for the Academy Award-winning songs written for the animated features=20
"Pocahontas" and "The Prince of Egypt." Using a wide variety of musical=20
styles, the show addresses the intergenerational conflicts and patterns=20
that are passed so easily from parent to child. Indeed, the musical is=20
a compelling story of love, rage, guilt, and their consequences, as=20
well as the need to begin again. "Children of Eden", in two acts, tells=20
the stories of Adam and Eve and Noah and the flood.  The show is=20
appropriate for the entire family. Composer Stephen Schwartz will be=20
presenting a free lecture on Monday, February 23rd in E. Turner Stumpe=20
Theatre.  This event is free but reservations are required.

Tickets for all performances of CHILDREN OF EDEN are $10 for adults, $8=20
for seniors, KSU Alumni and KSU Faculty/Staff and $7 for students under=20
18 or with any valid school ID.  Discounts are available for groups of=20
ten or more.  The School of Theatre & Dance Box Office is located in=20
the Music & Speech Center and is opened 12 p.m. =96 5 p.m. Mondays =96=20
Fridays, 3 p.m. =96 7 p.m. on Saturday during the run of the show and one=
=20
hour before performance times.  School of Theatre & Dance performances=20
are Tuesday =96 Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.  There will be=
=20
no performance on Tuesday, February 24th.   For tickets call=20

Helming the KSU production is Associate Professor and Porthouse Theatre=20
Artistic Director Terri Kent, who, last season, directed the School=92s=20
production of "Guys & Dolls."  Musical director is Mel Fucci and=20
choreography is by assistant professor of acting and directing, Eric=20
van Baars who earlier this season directed another Stephen Schwartz=20
musical, "Working."  Scenic designer is MFA graduate candidate Kimberly=20
Cox.  The lighting design is by Associate Professor/Resident Lighting=20
Designer Cynthia Stillings, who is also Resident Light Designer for The=20
Cleveland Opera and Porthouse Theatre. Costume design is by graduate=20
student Anne Medlock and theatre major Chelsea White.
