JCC Photography Show Juror’s Lecture Announced
Catherine Evans, Curator of Photography at the Columbus Museum of Art, will
PRESENT THE JUDGE'S LECTURE FOR THE 34TH ANNUAL JCC PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW
on Sunday, February 29th

JCC photography show juror’s lecture announced
Catherine evans, curator of photography at the columbus
museum of art, will speak at the jcc on sunday, february 29th

February 25, 2004 (Beachwood, Ohio) -Catherine Evans, Curator of Photography
at the Columbus Museum of Art and the Judge for the 34th Annual JCC
Photography Show, will present the juror’s lecture on Sunday, February 29.
Her presentation is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. in the Simon and Rose Mandel
Community Room at The Jewish Community Center of Cleveland, Mandel Building,
26001 S. Woodland, Beachwood.  Evans will speak about her work and share her
perspective on the photographs selected for this year’s winning entries. The
lecture is free and open to the public.

Prior to serving as the Curator of Photography at the Columbus Museum of Art
in Columbus, Evans was Assistant Curator in the Department of Photography
under John Szarkowski at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.  In Columbus
Evans has directed four exhibitions annually since 1996, has published
several catalogs, and has doubled the size of the permanent collection's
holding in photography.  Recent acquisitions include 170 vintage prints by
members of the Photo League.  She also served as guest curator for The View
>From Here:  Recent Pictures From Central Europe and the American Midwest, an
exhibition and publication that opened in Budapest, traveled to Prague and
will travel to several American venues through 2004.

JCC PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW JUROR’S LECTURE SET FOR FEB. 29

The opening reception for the JCC Photo Show will take place at the JCC,
Mandel Building, on April 19, 2004, and winning entries will remain on
display through May 14, 2004. New this year, the exhibition will continue at
the Beck Center for the Arts, 17801 Detroit Avenue, in Lakewood, and remain
on display through June 27, 2004.
