This May, a couple hundred people will experience a moving oratorio about
having and dealing with breast cancer.
"Where I Live," written by Diane Benjamin, explores the breast cancer
experience. The performance will include women's chorus, string quartet,
and readers.
Windsong, Cleveland's Feminist Chorus, is searching for readers to perform
with them during this powerful event. The oratorio has 6-10 opportunities
for spoken word recitations. Readings all describe some aspect of breast
cancer from the perspective of people who have had it or know people who
have.
The only requirements are that you be willing to perform a reading in
concert and can be available for an audition, dress rehearsal, and concert.
Although it is not necessary, our preference is that readers have in some
way been touched by breast cancer (they themselves are survivors or know
someone who has had breast cancer -- but, alas, isn't that most of us?)
The concert will be Saturday, May 22 at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
I would be pleased to hear from you.
