[NEohioPAL]Ashland Summer Theatre Festival Accepting Resumes for Technical Director Position

The Ashland Summer Theatre Festival is now accepting resumes for 
technical director for its 2004 season, which will include A Funny 
Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Lend Me a Tenor, and Hello, 
Dolly!

The program is an intense eight week experience consisting of actors, 
technicians, and staff members who work seven days a week, 10 hours a 
day to present three professional quality productions.  Company Members 
are offered a chance to develop talents in acting, dance, scenery 
construction, costumes, make-up, sound, and lighting design that will 
prepare them to go on to exciting careers in the professional 
entertainment world.

Contract dates are May 17 through July 19, and the salary range is  
$350 per week.  All company members receive a single room in university 
housing two blocks from the theatre, and a generous weekly stipend is 
provided for meals.  The average daily work schedule is 9am to 10pm 
with meal and personal breaks.

The Ashland Summer Theatre Festival is located on the campus of Ashland 
University in North Central Ohio between Cleveland and Columbus.  The 
theatre facilities include a 730 seat proscenium house, fully equipped 
scene, costume, and paint shops onsite, as well as storage facilities 
for stock costumes, scenery, and lighting equipment.  These facilities 
also feature a computerized lighting system and a refurbished sound 
system.

Technical Director (1 position)
Hire Dates: 5-17-04 to 7-19-04
Salary:  $350/week (9 weeks) plus weekly food stipend
Housing: Private Room in university residence hall two blocks from 
theatre
Description: Function as the TD for a three show season.  
Responsibilities will include drafting, purchasing, estimating, 
budgeting, maintaining paperwork, communication with other departments, 
problem solving, supervision of Master Carpenter and small carpentry 
crew, and some equipment maintenance.  This is a very hands on 
position, and some construction, installation, and strike duties will 
be necessary. Experience with rigging is expected, and with welding, 
plastics, and fabrics is preferred. Prior professional experience, 
especially under summer theatre schedules and conditions, is preferred.
