Cesear's Forum is pleased to announce it will be presenting Glen Berger's
UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL at Kennedy's Down Under, Playhouse Square Center,
Cleveland, Ohio, from April 2nd through May 8th. The production is
directed by Fred
Sternfeld and features Joe Gunderman. A mystery story about understanding
life and the human desire to say, "I was here," the play concerns a Dutch
librarian, whose
life is radically changed when he discovers a 19th century travel guidebook
that is 123
years overdue. He seeks the individual responsible, which leads to an
extraordinary
journey - via a one-man show disguised as a lecture - toward spiritual
renewal. The
lintel? It is, literally, a horizontal support above a doorframe, but, more
importantly, part
of the discovery that leads our librarian-come-detective to prove one life
and justify
another. In it's Cleveland area premiere, the play is filled with poignant
humor and
touching poetry - a soaring exploration of the human spirit.

Glen Berger has a penchant for writing odd plays with odd titles. His
characters bubble
over with passions that are both compelling and absurd, while his simple
stories are
comically philosophical. He began as the principle writer for the Mask and
Wig Comedy
Troupe at the University of Pennsylvania. Playwriting began in earnest at
the Annex
Theatre in Seattle. Numerous awards and grants followed. Mr. Berger is now
a New
York based playwright but his work is produced nationally and
internationally. Works
include: BESSEMER'S SPECTACLES, THE WOODEN BREEKS, O LOVELY
GLOWWORM, GREAT MEN OF SCIENCE, NOS. 21 & 22 and several episodes for the
PBS children's series ARTHUR.

Director Fred Sternfeld is widely represented on Cleveland area stages
through diverse
projects. Already this season, he completed work on John Steinbeck's OF MICE
AND
MEN at the Beck Center, where he previously served as Artistic Director, and
was lauded
by critics for two productions last season; Charles Busch's THE TALE OF THE
ALLERGISTS WIFE at Dobama Theatre (where he also directed Naomi Wallace's
compelling THE TRESTLE AT POPE LICK CREEK) and the Jerry Bock, Sheldon
Harnick, Joseph Stein Musical FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at Cain Park. Before
relocating to Cleveland, Mr. Sternfeld served as Artistic Director for the
Seattle & Dallas
Jewish Community Centers.

Joe Gunderman most recently appeared in the Beck Center production of John
Steinbeck's OF MICE AND MEN and with Actors' Summit in Jean Baptiste
Moliere's
TARTUFFE. Mr. Gunderman's resonant voice is often heard over local radio
airwaves
and he serves as the Production Coordinator for WKSU.

Cesear's Forum, a minimalist theatre company, produces only a few times a
year, but is
dedicated to production excellence through unique, timely and often unknown
plays.
Performing at Kennedy's Down Under (literally under the Ohio Theatre) at the
Playhouse
Square Center, ticket prices are reasonably priced at just $15.

UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL; April 2nd through May 8th, Kennedy's Down Under,
Playhouse Square Center, 1501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Friday & Saturdays at
8pm.
Single tickets at $15.00. Call Tickets.com at (216) 241-6000.
