FAIRMOUNT CENTER TO OFFER IMPROVISATION WORKSHOPS LED BY SECOND CITY PROGRAM
DIRECTOR, MITCHELL FIELDS

This April, Mitchell Fields will be offering an 8 week "Improvisation for
the Theatre" workshop that explores performance games and structures actors
may have seen on television's Whose Line Is it Anyway, or at Cleveland's
Cabaret Dada. Held in Fairmount Center's newly acquired "Lake House" on
the beautiful Centerville Mills Campus, these workshops are designed for
aspiring actors and improvisation artists who wish to explore the art of
improvisation. The workshops begin on April 28 and continue every
Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. through June 16. Improvisation for the
Theatre is a challenging workshop appropriate for ages 16 - adults. Cost is
$195.00.

"Improvisation is an ancient skill. And there's a real art to doing it
well. Understanding the rules of creative and spontaneous interaction and
team collaboration is vital to actors. You really don't need to be an actor
to benefit from this class either. The challenges offered in my course
teach people how to be creative and effective collaborators through the art
of improvisation. It's great fun. It's hard work. But I've never had a
better time bringing a moment to life!"

Mitchell Fields is a teacher, an actor and a director. He is a member of
Actor's Equity Association and AFTRA. Since 1999, he has served as program
director for Second City of Cleveland. He also served as acting coach for
Something DaDa Improvisational Theatre Troupe and Giant Portions
Improvisational Theatre Comedy Troupe. His resume is replete with
respected work with the some of the finest theatres and plays.

Mitchell has worked in theatres across the country including: The Great
Lakes Theatre Festival, Ensemble Theatre, Dobama Theatre, Porthouse
Theatre, Cain Park Theatre:, The Halle Theatre, The Cleveland Theatre
Company, Moving Spaces, Lakeland Theatre, and Playhouse on the Hill.

As one who has successfully crossed theatrical genres, Mr. Fields worked in
a number of films including PROXIMITY for HBO and THE SCRIPT DOCTOR. As an
actor he was been hailed as an exceptional actor in productions of
everything from Shakespeare to O'Neill, to Musical Theatre. He holds a B.A.
in Theatre from Western Reserve University and an MY in Theatre Arts/Film
from Columbia University

Mitchell has celebrated his teaching skills by serving as an Adjunct
Professor at Baldwin-Wallace College, an acting instructor at the Cleveland
Play House, Associate Director of The Cleveland Theatre Company , an acting
coach in private practice, For several years he served as Theatre
Department Chairman and Artistic Director of the Fine Arts Association of
Willoughby - Mitchell Fields served as Teacher of Dramatic Arts, Film and
Speech at Beachwood High School for 25 years.

Thomas Q. Fulton, Jr., Executive Artistic Director for the Center is
thrilled to have Mitchell Fields joining the staff at Fairmount.. "Mitchell
is a remarkable teacher, a superb and subtle actor, and a comedian 'par
excel lance'. I have personally worked with Mitchell as an Actor,
Director and Teacher and I have encountered few colleagues with the kind of
joy and commitment he brings to his work", Fulton said. "We are in the
process of gathering together the best and the brightest talents in our
region make Fairmount one of the premier sites for aspiring actors,
directors, filmmakers, writers and visual artists to explore and develop
their talents. Mr. Fields brings that light with him. We hope all the
aspiring actors and improvisation artists out there will join Mitchell and
Fairmount Center this challenging and joyous workshop."

Those interested in attending should contact The Fairmount Center Offices by
calling 440-338-3171.
