Triple CD Release Party March 20, 2004 at the Beachland Ballroom

Three bands will release their new CDs on Saturday March 20th at the
Beachland Ballroom. Each will perform separately for one set and
together for a finale. Lingua will start, followed by Drumplay, then
KMOB. Tickets are $6 and will be available at the club in advance or at
the door. CDs will be available from all the bands.

Lingua consists of Dan Bode on harmonica and vocals with Rick Kodramaz on
bass. Kodramaz and Bode go back 15 years, working together in various
bands from MOKO BOVO=E2=80=99s inspired blues and funk to live sound trackin=
g for
silent films with Al Moses [see also KMOB]. The new self-titled album
ranges from various world beats to jazz and funk, with emphasis on
improvisation and experimental sounds. Stories and poems sourced from
original material and an eclectic aggregation of writers reaching from
Eduardo Galleano, Octavio Paz, to Everette Maddox; and even some from a
collection of writings from the Arizona State Penitentiary are presented
on their new disc.

Drumplay was formed by James Onysko. The new CD entitled =E2=80=9CDayshine=20=
to
Stars-end=E2=80=9D has been culled from performances last year on their tour=
 of
Europe, where they teamed up with Benoit Moerlen on marimba. Performing
for the release party will be: James Onysko on djembe and conch shells,
Warren Levert on congas, and Tony Handy on djembe. The percussion
ensemble reaches to all ends of the earth for inspiration; and their
improvisations flow from Polynesian to Native American to North African
and Middle Eastern rhythms. Daniel Thompson will perform original
poetry, and they will be accompanied for this live performance by belly
dancers, Pandora=E2=80=99s Hope.

KMOB will be releasing =E2=80=9CBig Broadcast=E2=80=9D. The trio includes R=
ick Kodramaz
on bass, Al Moses on guitar, and Kip Volans on drums. All are long term
veterans on the local music scene. The music ranges from acid jazz,
fusion, and funk to latin, groove and psychedelic - combining the
creativity and freedom of improvisation to world rhythms. KMOB have
recently been selected to perform in France at FIMU =E2=80=93 an internation=
al
music festival held each spring in Belfort.
