WEATHERVANE PLAYHOUSE presents
Neil Simon's THE DINNER PARTY
Sponsored by Summa Health System Foundation

Weathervane Playhouse is pleased to present the AKRON PREMIERE of Neil=20
Simon's comedy THE DINNER PARTY. This production is sponsored by Summa Heal=
th=20
System Foundation. The Dinner Party opened on Broadway late in 2000 followi=
ng a=20
record-breaking run at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles in 1999 and its E=
ast=20
Coast premiere at the Kennedy Center in June 2000.

Six people are mysteriously summoned to dinner. Arriving first are three=20
men: the easily exasperated Claude, the shlubby Albert and the cynical, suav=
e=20
Andre. After noticing six place settings at the table, they quickly discove=
r=20
that they have nothing in common except that each has an ex-wife, at which p=
oint=20
an awful possibility occurs to them - which turns out to be true! Before th=
e=20
evening is over, the door is locked from the outside and no one can leave. =20
It's love from soup to nuts and a delicious comedy ensues. In one fast-pace=
d,=20
intermissionless hour and a half, typical Neil Simon one-liners share the st=
age=20
with the play's message of forgiveness and renewal. The Washington Post=20
calls this "Neil Simon's emotionally richest play. It's laugh-out-loud funn=
y!"

Weathervane Playhouse will hold a special fund raising dinner on the night o=
f=20
Saturday, May 1. Tickets are $60 each and include dinner at 6:30 p.m. in th=
e=20
new "Dietz Classroom Theater," the performance of The Dinner Party and=20
dessert onstage after the show. Dinner also includes wine, beverages, appet=
izer,=20
salad, chicken marsala, roasted vegetables and sweet potato souffl=E9. Seat=
ing is=20
limited and $25 is tax-deductible.

On the nights of Friday, April 23 and Saturday, May 1, Weathervane is=20
offering a DATE NIGHT CLASS. Parents can see the play while their children=20=
(ages 3 -=20
9) "play" with games, movies and theater-related activities. $6 per child=20
with purchase of theater tickets.
