About the Play:

=20

Studs Terkel's Working: People Talk about What They Do All
Day and How They Feel about What They Do, gave real, working class
Americans a voice. Working - The Musical, gives a face to those voices.
Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso allow us to see what Studs Terkel calls
"the extraordinary dreams of ordinary people."

 =20

Twenty-six workers, including a parking lot attendant,
corporate executive, newsboy, schoolteacher, gas man, housewife,
fireman, waitress, millworker and others, sing and talk about their
jobs, defining not only their daily round, but their hopes and
aspirations as well. Each of the characters allow us to see them as an
individual as well as part of a greater whole; a community of people
that support each other, whether directly or indirectly. Housewives are
supported by other housewives and firemen are supported by other fireman
because they share a mutual respect for an occupation that keeps the
world moving along toward a better place. They all have something they
can point to.

=20

Working - The Musical, opened on Broadway on May 14, 1978.
It was written by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso. Music by Stephen
Schwartz, Micki Grant, Craig Carnelia, Mary Rodgers and James Taylor.
Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Micki Grant, Craig Carnelia, James Taylor
and Susan Birkenhead. =20

A Midwest comedy offering a mixture of brag, heartache, and bluster -
filled with tenderness and compassion for the human experience, Bus Stop
opened on Broadway in March of 1955 and received four Tony Award
nominations. In 1956, the play was made into a movie starring Marilyn
Monroe.

First-Year MFA Conservatory Ensemble

Elizabeth Davis (Cherie) grew up in Channing, Texas and graduated magna cum
laude from Baylor University with a BFA in Theatre Performance in 2003.
She's appeared at Baylor Theatre, Palo Duro Canyon Amphitheatre, and
Amarillo Summer Musicals, and has taught theatre in an after-school program
at Mission Waco. Past productions include The Oresteia (Athene), Two
Gentlemen of Verona (Sylvia), Arcadia (Lady Croom), 1940's Radio Hour
(Ann), The Winter's Tale (Emilia), The Matchmaker (Irene Maloy), and Woman
Without a Name (Calistra). Ms. Davis has played the violin since she was
three years old and is currently Miss El Paso in conjunction with the Miss
Texas organization.

Nicole Hedges (Grace Hoylard) originally hails from New York, but received
her BA in California where she's lived and worked for the last five years.
Some of the shows she enjoyed working on as an undergrad include The
Cherry Orchard, Much Ado About Nothing, and Onionheads. She plans to
return to New York upon completion of her MFA.

Dan Hodge (Carl) originally hails from Texas, but spent four years in
Indiana getting his BFA from the University of Evansville. While there, he
enjoyed a variety of roles in both Classical and contemporary plays. While
he feels those years in Indiana prepared him for his graduate training here
in Cleveland, he regrets that nothing short of the Arctic Tundra could have
prepared him for the cold.

Samuel Holloway (Virgil Blessing) grew up in Coos Bay, Oregon and attended
college at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, where he did his thesis
on "Seven Characters in The Laramie Project," his favorite acting
experience. As an intern at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Sam appeared
in David Edgar's new play, Continental Divide

Bailey Kinslow (Elma Duckworth) is pleased to be in her first performance
at The Cleveland Play House. Before joining the MFA program at Case, she
attended West Virginia University where she received her BFA in
theatre/acting. There she was in such productions as subUrbia, Medea, and
Twelfth Night. She was most recently seen in the Ohio Outdoor drama
Trumpet in the Land where she also was in The White Savage and Jesus Christ
Superstar. She also directed a production of Waiting for Godot at MT
Pockets Theatre.

Joshua John McKay (Dr. Gerald Lyman )has been in such productions as The
School for Scandal (Joseph Surface), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to
the Forum (Sinex), Falsettoland, Oedipus Rex (Teiresias), Twelfth Night
(Feste), Carousel, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown and many others. He has
his BA from the University of the Pacific in Musical Theatre and is also a
published playwright.

Jason M. Miller (Bo Decker) comes to Case with a BFA in Musical Theatre
from Northern Kentucky University. Favorite professional credits include:
Grease, Oklahoma, Hello Dolly, A Chorus Line, Gypsy, Smoke on the Mountain
and The Pirates of Penzance. Jason resided in Hollywood, California for a
short time resulting in appearances on "E.R.", "Becker," "Beverly Hills
90210," and "Haunted Hollywood" for A&E. Jason also has been a lead
vocalist for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

Lelund Durond Thompson (Will Masters),from North Carolina, is thrilled and
honored to be making his Cleveland debut in Bus Stop. His most recent
credits include Five Guys Named Moe, Steppin', The Glass Menegerie, Two
Trains Running, Antigone, and Black Nativity. Lelund received his B.F.A
from North Carolina A&T State University.
