Lakewood, Ohio - The Beck Center for the Arts and Coordinator Norma
Codispoti, invite you to take part in this year's Singers' Forum as we
host one of Broadway's leading ladies, Dee Hoty, for a Music Theater
Master Class on Thursday, May 6 at 8:00 p.m. =20

In general, a "Master Class" gives singers and musicians alike the
opportunity to receive a brief but insightful critique by some of the
most well respected performers and educators in the field of music.  On
May 6th, Miss Hoty will be coaching four singers who have been active in
musical theater locally.  Her critique of their performances will be
invaluable to those observing.

Currently starring on Broadway in the smash hit Mamma Mia, Dee Hoty
began her theatrical career 36 years ago at Lakewood High School.  After
graduating from Otterbein College in 1974, she apprenticed at The
Cleveland Playhouse.  Dee made her Broadway debut in 1980 in a
short-lived revival of The 5 O'Clock Girl.  Since then, she has
distinguished herself as one of Broadway's most highly regarded leading
ladies, with more than 30 theater, television and film credits to her
name. =20

Her film and television credits include Co-narrator of TBS's Untold
West, Harry and Walter Go to New York, Models, Inc., St. Elsewhere,
Spencer for Hire, The Equalizer and recurring roles on Capital, Ryan's
Hope, Guiding Light and As the World Turns.  Dee's recent turn as
Phyllis in the celebrated Paper Mill Playhouse revival of Stephen
Sondheim's Follies can be heard on CD.  Dee can also be seen on the PBS
Home Video My Favorite Broadway:  The Leading Ladies.

Dee has starred in Broadway's Footloose, Will Rogers Follies and City of
Angels.  She has been nominated for three Tony Awards for Best Actress
in a Musical for her performances in The Best Little Whorehouse Goes
Public, Will Rogers Follies and Footloose.  =20

The fee to observe is $15 (seniors or high school and college students
with ID $10).  Seating is limited and advanced registration is
encouraged.
