'GALILEO'S LUTE' FIRST RECITAL IN THE CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY'S
SHAFFRAN PLANETARIUM, APRIL 26

In celebration of Galileo's musical talent, The Cleveland Museum
of Natural History will present the first recitals in the Shafran
Planetarium on Monday, April 26 at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Guest artists are
Ronn McFarlane, one of the most outstanding lute players today, and Kenneth
B=E9, an accomplished lute player and McFarlane's musical partner and
managing agent.

"McFarlane is largely responsible for bringing the transcendent
charm and timeless quality of the lute into the musical mainstream and
making it accessible to a larger audience. He has been praised for the
sensitivity and depth of his playing
and for his superb technical control," according to Mel Bay Publications,
Inc. He has numerous recordings on the Dorian label.
Visitors will enjoy music from Galileo's world in the planetarium under a
night sky typical of the year 1611. The lute compositions include works by
Galilei's father, Vincenzo, and Galilei's younger brother Michelangelo.
Then, under a modern sky, McFarlane will perform his original compositions,
many influenced by nature's beauty.

Tickets are free. However, interested individuals need to make
reservations. Call (216) 231-1177 or (800) 317-9155, ext. 279.The Museum
is at 1 Wade Oval Drive in University Circle, 15 minutes east of downtown
Cleveland.
