Cultural Arts Building to Open with "What the Bellhop Saw"<?xml:namespace
prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Months of hard work by dedicated volunteers is coming to fruition with the
grand opening production of "What the Bellhop Saw" at the new Broadview
Heights Cultural Arts Building. The Broadview Heights Spotlights Community
Theater is proud to present this hilarious comedy by Billy Van Zandt and
Jane Milmore through special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., New York,
NY. The show opens Friday, May 7 and runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM
through May 22. The closing show is a matinee on Sunday May 23 - 3PM.

Picture this: A fabulous nightmare involving a Salman Rusdie-type author, a
Middle-Eastern-Type Terrorist, a monstrous shrew-like woman, a conniving
bellboy, a monumentally incompetent F.B.I. man, a nubile celebrity-mad maid,
a dim-witted secretary, and a cute little pigtailed girl. All the while,
gag lines are popping at popcorn speed. Everything happens at pretty much
whirlwind-velocity. This farce by Van Zandt and Milmore blends topical
humor with the traditional antics of Farce: doors slamming, characters
careening, and confusion reigning supreme. Now....doesn't that sound like
fun?

Many new faces will grace the Spotlights stage in this production directed
by George Lasecki along with Assistant Director Sue Jeromson. The cast
consists of Leo Tischer, Vince Stillitano, Dave Reifel, Pat Matthews,
Allison Naso, Norm Bennett, Marc Dusini, Deb Sweat, Mike Russ, Jenna Grimes,
and Doug Stohlman.

Tickets for the show are $10 ($8 for Seniors and Children 12 & under).
Seating is limited and reservations are strongly suggested. Call
216/556-0660 or log onto the Spotlights' website:
www.broadview-heights-spotlights.org. The Cultural Arts Building is located
at the Broadview Center, 9543 Broadview Road (1/2 mi. south of Rt. 82).
Enter the main drive, turn right at flag pole, and follow the signs to the
first street past the Police Department.

Another "first" for the Cultural Arts Building is an art exhibit by local
artist Val Kaczor. Her contemporary interpretation of the soon-to-be
demolished old hospital building is entitled "Retrospections to Be" and is
sure to be popular because of the building's future extinction. The
colorful, limited-edition prints will be available for purchase with part of
the proceeds benefiting the Broadview Heights Spotlights Community Theater.
The exhibit will be open to the public from one hour before and through each
performance (admission to the show is not required). A collage is on
display in the lobby of the City Community Building; it shows all of the
available prints.
