The Wade Festival=20
a festival of new works=20

Submission Deadline is May 15th, 2004.
Festival to be held June 7-11, 2004 at the Cedar Riverside People's =
Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Mission:
The Wade Festival is designed to give staged readings of new works and =
works in progress and promotes the development of new plays by emerging =
playwrights. The Festival serves to increase the visibility of those =
writers, and to encourage production of their work in the Twin Cities.=20

The Wade Festival is named for the late George Franklin Wade, the =
founder of Shakespeare & Company, Minnesota's longest running classical =
outdoor repertory theater and a mentor to many of Pigs Eye's founding =
members.=20

Submission Guidelines:
Playwrights are limited to one submission per year. To enter your play, =
you must prepare a submission package containing the following:=20

a.. Three (3) copies of your play. The first page of your play must =
contain only the name of the play and the characters.=20
IMPORTANT: Your name should not appear anywhere on the play. (Judging =
and selection are conducted anonymously). The pages should be numbered =
and the name of the play should appear on each page of the play. Please =
include a 3x5 index card with your name, address, phone number and email =
address.=20

a.. Each copy of the play must be paper-clipped. No staples, plastic =
binders, hard cover or other binding.
a.. Staging must be simple in all technical areas. Musicals are not =
permitted. We will accept plays from one to three acts in length, with =
running time not to exceed three hours.=20
a.. A self-addressed stamped response postcard or envelope required with =
all submissions, and a non-refundable $15.00 processing fee payable by =
check or money order, made out to Pigs Eye Theatre.=20
a.. Previously produced plays are not eligible. Staged readings are not =
considered production. Plays previously submitted to the Festival are =
not eligible.=20

Send your submissions to:
Wade Festival
Pigs Eye Theatre
P.O. Box 75687
St. Paul, MN 55175-0687=20

a.. Questions may be addressed by mail, by calling the Pigs Eye Hotline =
toll-free at: (800) 370-4920 or via email at info at pigseyetheatre.org=20

a.. We're looking for plays that have not yet received a professional =
production, and that the playwright feels is in need of development. We =
accept proposals for the Wade Festival on a year-round basis.=20

a.. Plays selected will be developed in rehearsal for two to five days, =
and then performed in front of a paying audience either once or twice. =
In addition, it allows local playwrights to be involved in the rehearsal =
process as an active participant, interacting with director and actors =
in a unique collaboration. If the play is performed twice, a rehearsal =
between readings allows the playwright to continue the play's =
development right up to the final day of the project.
