Ijapa the Tortoise  By Barbara Winther
This play is based on the folktales of the Yoruba people of Nigeria, the =
largest ethnic group in Africa.  Ijapa is a clever trickster and is =
known for being conniving, greedy, lazy, and self-serving.  He is =
frequently outwitting his neighbors only to be caught in the end.  In =
the two tales of  Ijapa the messages are presented through music, dance =
and storytelling.  In the first story Ijapa ultimately learns whatever =
you do in this world, good or bad, will come back to you.  In the second =
tale Ijapa does not follow the tradition of his ancestors and learns how =
important it is to listen.  Educational Resource Material is available =
prior to the performance.  $225/$50 for workshop

Prices for dual performances on the same day are double the original =
rate less one hundred dollars.  $225/$350 one/two performances

Additional charges may apply to schools outside of Cuyahoga County.  We =
bring all necessary sets, costumes and equipment.
