EDDIE FROM OHIO
returns to
 The Kent Stage!

Friday, June 11
8:00 PM

Too energetic to be labeled just "folk", and not angry enough to be pegged "alternative", Eddie from Ohio continues to defy description with their unique blend of vocals and acoustic instrumentation. A bedrock foundation of hand percussion and a textural flavoring of acoustic guitar/bass/harmonica support the four-part harmonies and lyrically-driven original music. While this combination has drawn comparisons like the Grateful Dead meets Peter, Paul & Mary, or like Jewel fronts the Bare Naked Ladies, EFO fuses a multitude of musical influences to create their own trademark sound.

Don't just take our word on EFO, here's what the media has to say!

"Eddie from Ohio has become the darling of the East Coast singer-songwriter scene....employing instrumentation that crosses the musical spectrum, a superb flair for cliche-free melodies, and the stunning voice of Julie Murphy." - Billboard "(Eddie from Ohio) continues to hone its impressive song craft and harmonies while avoiding the kind of self-absorption that's running rampant in neo-folkie circles." - The Washington Post.

"They've built a great grassroots following. You can see why - they can sing great, they play great and they write good songs: the old-fashioned reason to be popular."
-Larry Groce, Mountain Stage

"This "folkternative" quartet charms with an irresistible cache of smart, quirky songs that goose the imagination."
-Entertainment Weekly

"Eddie From Ohio is actually a quartet from Virginia, among the hottest new folk bands. Its quirky, hilariously smart-alecky songs are bringing young fans to folk and a welcome spirit of fun to the often-dour world of the songwriter."
-The Boston Globe

"psycho-folk"
Cleveland's Plain Dealer

"folk rock never sounded so comforting." - Dirty Linen

"Eddie from Ohio is a damn fine, neo-trad folk outfit from Virginia....smartly crafted songs, and lovely harmonies that live up to the foursome's slogan "folkin' excellent!" " - The Boston Phoenix
