Regarding NEGATIVE REVIEWS............

I saw the Ensemble Theater production of The Sweepers last night and was one=
=20
of the 90-something people giving it a standing ovation at the end. I read a=
=20
negative review and thought, "how could a show with THESE particular actors=20=
in=20
it be bad?".....luckily, I hardly EVER agree with reviewers!!!=A0 I know=20
reviewers have a job to do, but I think even they could stand to "review" th=
eir own=20
work at times.=A0 This show was wonderful and regardless of what anyone may=20=
think=20
of the script or direction, the actors deserve a second look by them all.=
=A0 I=20
think any show needs at least 1 night to fully gel and finds it's way,=20
especially if they have their first audience on opening night, as was the ca=
se=20
here.=A0=A0 Well, this cast has definitely gelled and lead the way to an ama=
zing night=20
of theater.

Jean Zarzour, Tracey Field, Meg Kelly, James Savage and Jennifer Clifford=20
gave compelling performances, both entertaining and heart pulling.=A0 I thou=
ght=20
they worked beautifully together...when they laughed, you laughed with them,=
 when=20
they cried, you cried with them.=A0 Not only was I moved by the outstanding=20
performances, I was equally moved by the audience reaction....I saw and hear=
d=20
dozens of audience members around me, many who were clearly war veterans or=20
Italian or both, laughing and crying with a bitter sweet recall of the event=
s and=20
emotions that moved them back in '45 when the play takes place.

It was a well deserved ovation and I encourage anyone who hasn't been the Th=
e=20
Cleveland Play House to see this production to go for the final weekend and=20
see if you don't feel the same way.
