The Canton Comic Opera Company Announces Auditions for the Operetta, EL CAPITAN by John Philip Sousa

 

The Canton Comic Opera Company will be holding auditions by appointment for a semi-staged concert production of EL CAPITAN, a comic opera in three acts (1895), with music by John Philip Sousa and book by Charles Klein.  The auditions for soloists and chorus will be held Monday, June 28, 2004 and Tuesday, June 29, 2004 from 7 pm -9 pm the Canton Jewish Community Center Auditorium, 2631 Harvard Ave. N.W., Canton, Ohio 44709.  Please prepare a song of short duration, an accompanist will be provided. To schedule an audition appointment or for more information please call (330) 327-2985 or email cantoncomicopera at yahoo.com. 

                                                                                                        

John Philip Sousa’s EL CAPITAN, featuring the famous “El Capitan March,” is presented in celebration of the “March King’s” 150th birthday. EL CAPITAN will be performed on September 11 & 12 at the Canton Jewish Center Auditorium.

 

The Canton Comic Opera Company is a newly formed, non-profit, semi-professional theatre company, based in Canton, Ohio, dedicated to the preservation and performance of American operettas.  Founded and incorporated in 2003 by executive director, Mr. Joseph N. Rubin, the Canton Comic Opera Company is an all volunteer organization providing talented singers in the Northeastern Ohio community with the opportunity to perform in operetta productions.  The Canton Comic Opera Company is the only theatre company in the world dedicated solely to the performance of historic American operettas.
