Kate Clinton To Emcee NCMC’s

“Pride & Joy”

CLEVELAND - The North Coast Men’s Chorus is proud to announce that comedian Kate Clinton will be emceeing its 8:00 PM, Saturday, June 19th performance of “Pride & Joy” at Waetjen Auditorium on the Cleveland State University Campus.

Ms Clinton, who will be in Cleveland to entertain at the Cleveland Pride Festival, has captivated audiences coast to coast with her sharp political satire. Believing that humor gets us through peacetime, wartime and scoundrel time, she is a respected member of the Commentariat.

“Having Kate join us on stage for this show is a thrilling landmark event for the Chorus,” said Rich Cole, the Chorus’ Music Director. “So much of what we’ve programmed for this show fits into Kate’s genre of political humor. We’re all excited and looking forward to a fabulous performance. Both Kate and the Chorus have this uncanny ability of taking some very serious issues and giving them fresh perspectives through humor.”

Ms Clinton has appeared on Good Morning America, Nightline, Entertainment Tonight, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, The Roseanne Show, The Arsenio Hall Show, Leeza and numerous news and talk shows on Comedy Central, Lifetime, Oxygen, MSNBC, CNN, and C-Span. She hosted In The Life, and The World According To Us, and now, a performance of the North Coast Men’s Chorus.

In addition to live performance, Kate writes monthly columns for The Progressive and The Advocate in which she waxes by turns comical and philosophical about the state of our nation and those who have put us in such a state. She has written for The New York Times and George magazine among others. Kate served as a writer on The Rosie O'Donell Show during its rollout period in 1996. Her book, Don't Get Me Started, and based on past and present monologues, was published by Ballantine in 1998. The audio companion was named "One of 1998s Best Audiobooks" by Publishers Weekly.

Perhaps the highest profile gay organization in Northeast Ohio, the North Coast Men’s Chorus has grown to over 100 singing members, under the direction of Music Director, Richard Cole. The all volunteer organization, founded in 1988 is a community based musical organization which affirms the gay experience by presenting entertaining, quality performances for diverse audiences; providing a supportive environment for its members; and promoting a positive presence in the gay community and beyond.

Members of the Chorus represent the widest possible diversity, including both professionals and service workers of all ages and races. The Chorus’ programming reflects the same level of diversity with singing, dancing, and comedy, through music from around the world. The performances never fail to take the audience through an entire range of emotions. As one audience member noted, “it represents life and its rainbow of experiences.”

Tickets for “Pride & Joy” are currently available on-line at www.ncmchorus.org or by calling 216.556.0590.
