Anyone who hasn't made it to Mardi Gras can experience the homespun
musical ethnicity of the Louisiana bayou at the Ragin' Cajun Fest, to be
held at Lock 3 Live! and FirstEnergy Stage in downtown Akron on
Saturday, June 26 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

=20

Featured groups at the Ragin' Cajun Fest will crank out everything from
traditional zydeco tunes to contemporary and crossover zydeco. Folks
will be hard-pressed to sit still, stirred by the sounds of squeezebox
riff and French rockin' boogie. Dance instruction will be available to
anyone who wants to learn the two-step stomp or Cajun jig. For those who
prefer to experience ethnicity via culinary samples, vendors will serve
up Cajun-style foods in addition to the usual festival fare.

=20

FirstEnergy Stage will spotlight America's most popular Cajun band,
Beausoleil avec Michael Doucet, as festival headliner. Beausoleil will
serve up a musical sauce pequante blending Cajun and Zydeco music with
New Orleans jazz, blues, Tex-Mex, Caribbean and more. Together for three
decades, Beausoleil consistently wins "Best Cajun Band" in New Orleans'
Offbeat Magazine "Best Of The Beat Awards."

=20

Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie - one of Louisiana's best
traditional zydeco bands - will also light up FirstEnergy Stage. Fusing
his Creole roots and modern voice through a multi-accordion attack,
young Geno's unique sound distinguished him as Best Zydeco Artist at the
2003 Big Easy Awards in New Orleans. Delafose also mines Cajun music,
French Creole, blues and country swing.

=20

French Creole fiddler and accordionist Dennis Stroughmatt and his band,
Creole Stomp, will bring their special brand of Creole, Cajun, zydeco,
and Missouri French Creole music straight from the bayous and prairies
of southwest Louisiana. And, with a repertoire of well-crafted original
tunes and an eclectic blend of party songs, Cats On Holiday delivers a
potent dose of American influenced roots, country, Cajun and blues.
Finally, the inspiration of Zydeco Dependents stems from musical styles
of South Louisiana, Cajun, Zydeco and Swamp Blues.=20

=20
