Marking the 27th anniversary of Elvis Presley's crossing into Rock
Heaven, an Elvis Impersonator Contest will be staged on Saturday, June
19, at the Greased Lightning Festival at Lock 3 Live! park, located on
Main Street in downtown Akron, next to Akron Civic Theatre.

Contestant registration is at 2:30 p.m. and will continue until all time
slots are filled (performances run from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.).
Preferably, contestants will come clad as their favorite Elvis and be
prepared to sing their best Elvis song on the FirstEnergy Stage. For
musical accompaniment, contestants should bring an instrumental compact
disc or cassette tape of the song they will sing.=20

The competition begins at 3:00 p.m., to be emceed by Elvis impersonator
Jim Barone. Winners will be chosen based on audience applause, and
prizes will be awarded (TBA).=20

A $10 admission charge to the Greased Lightning festival includes all
concerts and entertainment. If you bring a canned food item to Lock 3
park to benefit the Akron/Canton Food Bank, you can buy one ticket at
full price and get the second ticket for half price. Cash-only tickets
are sold at the Lock 3 Live! gates 30 minutes before show time. For
advance tickets, call the Akron Civic Theatre Box Office at (330)
