Lakewood, Ohio - The Beck Center for the Arts is proud to present this
years summer blockbuster ~ Miss Saigon, directed by Scott Spence. This
international sensation opens July 16 and runs through August 15 on the
Main Stage.
Set in 1975 during the final days leading up to the American evacuation
of Saigon, Miss Saigon is the story of two young lovers torn apart by
the fortunes of destiny and held together by a burning passion and the
fate of a small child. Miss Saigon has become one of the greatest
musicals of its generation ~ a moving testament to the human spirit and
the tragedies of war. A stirring blend of soaring love ballads,
heart-warming melodies and electrifying marches, the score has been
acclaimed as uplifting, exuberant, hopeful and true.
"The Beck Center is proud to be home to Miss Saigon's locally produced
premiere," says Director Scott Spence. "Miss Saigon is raw and
uncompromising as it deals with controversial and contemporary issues."
Included in the cast is singer/songwriter Connor O'Brien. Since
releasing his sophomore record, Soliloquy, in November 2002, Connor has
appeared on the cover of Scene Magazine and played a few tour dates with
the likes of Huey Lewis, the Bacon Brothers and Mariah Carey. He was
featured on the History Channel's Shifting Gears and was recently
nominated for Best Singer/Songwriter by the Cleveland Free Times.=20
Beck Center's production of Miss Saigon is sponsored by Cox
Communications, Coca Cola Bottling Company, Borders and
Lakewoodbuzz.com. Show times are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at
8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $24 for adults, $21 for
