The Spotlight on Youth Program of the North Canton Playhouse, Center for the
Performing Arts, is pleased to announce it is the recipient of several
grants to further the education program taken into area schools.

The Stark County Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board is once again
funding this program for $15,320.00 for the delivery of dramas focusing on
substance abuse and/or domestic violence. This is the 13th year this agency
has funded the program.

The Ridgecliff Foundation of Cuyahoga County is funding Spotlight for the
10th year. This year’s award is for $14,950.00 and includes the expansion of
the program into Cuyahoga County. Previous programs were delivered primarily
in Summit County. This grant covers all topics.

The Deuble Foundation has granted an award of $5,600.00 for the development
of a substance abuse play at the secondary school level and six performances
of this play. This is the third time this foundation has funded the program.
The previous times were the 92-93 and 93-94 school years for performances of
a prejudice play.

The latest foundation to grant monies to the Spotlight program is the Henry
and Louise Timken Foundation, a component of the Stark Community Foundation.
The award of $13,000 is for the presentation of dramas covering a variety of
topics. This is the first year of a possible thre-year program to bring
these live social issue dramas to area students in Stark County.

These four grants cover a total of 71 presentations throughout Stark, Summit
and Cuyahoga Counties. Still pending are grant requests for 25 more
presentations. Anyone interested in more information about this program or
wishing to book a funded performance relative substance abuse, domestic
violence, school violence, animal abuse prevention or other possible topics,
contact Era Lynn Tripp at 330-494-3423.

The 04-05 school years commemorates the 15th anniversary of the Spotlight on
Youth program, so it is fitting that this year should be a big one for
presentations.

Subject: [NEohioPAL]auditions for Lobby Hero at the Beck Center
Message-ID: <01C468E8.D30C0C20.sgordon at clevelandplayhouse.com>

The Beck Center for the Arts will present the northeast ohio premiere of
Lobby Hero, by Kenneth Lonergan, directed by Seth Gordon, October 1-24.
Rehearsals will begin on or about August 31.

Auditions will take place Tuesday evening, July 20, starting at 6PM, and
Wednesday, July 21, starting at 7PM, at the Beck Center, 17801 Detroit
Avenue in Lakewood. They will be by appointment. To schedule one, please
call 216 521 2540, x239. Please prepare sides for the character you wish to
play. To peruse a copy of the script and be given a set of sides, stop by
the Beck Center during working hours.

All four roles are open, and both AEA and non-AEA will be considered for
all four roles:

Jeff: 20's. A bit of a confused loser who can't get a better job than that
of night doorman, and can't hold onto most of the jobs he gets. He has a
huge heart, though, and is looking to change his life in a very good way.

William: Jeff's captain, late 20's/30's, African-American. He's very big on
following the rules in life, and letting that cancel out whatever curves
life might throw. He's very proud of his accomplishments, and has little
patience for those who don't share his sense of morality and his pride.

Bill: Uniformed cop in his 30's. His sense of morality is quite different
than William's, at least at first glance. Mainly he's a cad who loves
getting his way and is quite good at it, but in fact he takes police work
very seriously.

Dawn: Bill's rookie partner, 20's, attractive. She's wanted to be a cop all
her life, and now her dream coming true is giving her more than she
bargained for. A very soft person with a very tough exterior.
