FAIRMOUNT CENTER TO OFFER AUDITION WORKSHOPS LED BY ACCLAIMED THEATRE
DIRECTOR, VICTORIA BUSSERT

On August 2 and 3, from 6-9 p.m., acclaimed theatre director, Victoria
Bussert will be offering two audition workshops for teens. She will be assisted by
Nancy Gantose-Maier, music director. Held on the beautiful campus of
historical Centerville Mills in Fairmount Center's newly acquired "Lake House' the
workshop is entitled "Make a Lasting Impression: Auditioning for Musical Theatre
Programs". The cost is $75.00 for each workshop. Class limit is 12 actors.

The workshops are part of the extended summer camp program that is being
headed up by theatre director Fred Sternfeld.

Ms. Bussert, known for her wonderfully successful musical productions, brings
a wealth of experience both as a director who has auditioned thousands of
actors, and as a well-respected teacher. For nine years she served as Director
Of Music Theatre for Baldwin-Wallace College, recognized as one of the top
musical theatre training programs in the country.

"All top musical theatre college and university programs require an audition
for admission. This class will focus on finding and performing appropriate
audition material for these auditions. We'll look closely at each student and
their chosen pieces and help the student shape and celebrate the work," said
Ms. Bussert. "Auditioning is one of the most terrifying and, at the same time,
one of the most important aspect of an actor's life. In my workshops,
students get a chance to practice in a supportive and nurturing environment."
Participants should bring two short songs.

2004 marks the 20th year for Victoria Bussert as a professional director.
Internationally, her work has been seen in Brazil, St. Petersburg, Russian and
throughout Africa.

In this country she has directed in theatres from coast to coast including
Manhattan Theatre Club, Goodspeed Opera, Portland Stage, Dallas Theatre Center,
Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Cincinnati Playhouse, Great Lakes Theatre
Festival, Cleveland Playhouse, Porthouse Theatre, Pegasus Players, Anchorage
Opera, Pennsylvania Opera Theatre, Skylight Opera, Piedmont Opera and Cleveland
Opera. Victoria has directed seven national tours including INTO THE WOODS, ONCE
ON THIS ISLAND and THE SECRET GARDEN. Upcoming projects include I LOVE YOU,
YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE for Idaho Shakespeare, THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD
for Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and the European Tour of THE WHO'S TOMMY
Northwestern University. Victoria holds and MFA in Directing from Northwestern
University.

Thomas Q. Fulton, Jr., Executive Artistic Director for the Center, is
overjoyed to have Victoria joining the Fairmount staff this summer. "I have seen
many productions of Victoria's. Her ability to find the humanity and joy in a
play in an atmosphere of pure celebration is wonderful. She has a great love of
young people and their potential. And her students are very successful once
they graduate. She is a wonderful teacher. We are very lucky to have her,"
Fulton said. "We are in the process of gathering together the best and the
brightest talents in our region to make Fairmount one of the premier sites for
aspiring writers, musicians, dancers, actors, and visual artists to explore and
develop their talents. Vicky Bussert is one of the brightest. We hope all
the aspiring young actors out there join us and her for this great opportunity
to explore the best in themselves as auditioning actors.
