WEATHERVANE PLAYHOUSE
Opens 70th Season with comedy
NOISES OFF
by Michael Frayn
Weathervane Ticket Office (330) 836-2626

Weathervane Playhouse kicks off its 70th season with the play-within-a-play
comedy NOISES OFF by Michael Frayn.

Frayn's comedy is a clever and enjoyable comedy about a zany troupe of actors
engaged in the production of a trite bedroom farce, Nothing On. A blend of
personality quirks and petty animosities conspire to turn the proceedings into
chaos.
We get three separate glimpses of the play's first act - once during the
final rehearsal, a second run-through from a backstage vantage point and the third
during a "performance." In each successive go-round, wayward props (such as
a plate of sardines) take on a life of their own, while cast members stumble
through and wrestle with a seemingly endless array of doors!

The characters of Noises Off include Garry - he's in love with Dotty, an
older woman who plays the maid. The wife of Frederick has just left him, while
Lloyd, the director, is simultaneously having affairs with Brooke (the
empty-headed ingenue) and Poppy (the frazzled assistant stage manager). Selsdon, the
oldest member of the cast, is a drunkard who also can't hear very well.
Rounding out the group are Belinda, a busybody actress, and Tim, an overworked stage
manager.

There's hilarity in the Valley with Noises Off, at Weathervane Playhouse
September 8 - October 4, 2004. Low-cost preview performances on Wednesday and
Thursday, September 8 & 9 at 7:30 p.m. with official opening on Friday, September
10 at 8:00 p.m.

Other performances are Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.
Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.
Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

Charge by phone at Weathervane's Ticket Office at 330-836-2626. Call between
10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Tickets: $20
Wed. & Thurs previews $14
Students 17 or younger $16
College Students and Senior Citizens $18 on Thursdays and Sundays

encourage economic growth, education excellence and cultural enrichment for all
Ohioans.
