Hudson Players Announce 60th Anniversary Season

The Hudson Players, Hudson’s theater tradition, have announced their 60th
anniversary season. The community theater’s 2004-05 productions will include
two musicals, a comedy, the popular community talent show and a variety of
special events all to be held at the Barlow Community Center in Hudson.

“It’s an exciting season,” said Michelle Dolicato, President of The Hudson
Players. “It truly offers something for everyone and will represent our 60th
anniversary well.”

The season will open with The Hudson Players 3rd Annual Community Talent
Show September 17 & 18. The event promises and evening of family
entertainment in the true talent show tradition. In the past, acts have
included singers, dancers, comedians, bands, storytellers, vaudeville acts
and more. Rapidly becoming the Hudson Players most popular annual event, the
talent show is not a contest, just a great night out. Auditions are open to
all and will be held August 30 & 31 at the Barlow Community Center.

The talent show will be followed by the funny and familiar musical comic
strip You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown running November 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 19
& 20. The musical features a cavalcade of fun, funny and insightful scenes
that reflect the work of Charles Schultz. The whole peanuts gang, sings,
dances flies kites and plays baseball to the delight of adults and children
alike. Recently revived on Broadway, it has maintained its popularity with
audiences due to its abundance of laughs and charm. Auditions are open to
all and will be held September 12 & 13 at the Barlow Community Center.

In February, the Players will present the ever-popular musical Annie Get
Your Gun, running February 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 25 & 26. The revival
version of this musical is a fun retelling of the incredible life of Ohio
born Annie Oakley. A spirited and unmatched female sharpshooter, Annie meets
Frank Butler and joins Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. Contains music by
Irving Berlin including “Anything You Can Do” and “There’s No Business Like
Show Business.” Auditions are open to all and will be held November 7 & 8 at
the Barlow Community Center.

Spring will bring the adventurous comedy I Hate Hamlet, running May 6, 7,
13, 14, 20 & 24. The play follows young, successful television actor, Andrew
Rally, as he moves to New York after his television series is cancelled.
There he rents a marvelous apartment and is offered the opportunity to play
Hamlet in Central Park. Sound like an actor’s dream? Should be, except
Andrew hates Hamlet. His dilemma deepens with the entrance of John Barrymore
’s ghost. The contrast between the two leads to a wildly funny dual over
women, art, success, duty, television and even the apartment. Auditions are
open to all and will be held March 6 & 7 at the Barlow Community Center.

In addition, the Players will bring their 60th anniversary season to a close
by hosting the Ohio Community Theater Associations 2005 Northeast Regional
OCTA Festival to be held July 9 & 10. This festival will attract community
theaters from all over the region as they present half hour excepts of their
best productions of their current season. Excerpts will be immediately
responded to and a select number will be chosen to represent the region at
the state festival. It’s a great way to see a number of great shows and
learn about theater. In addition, other special events are also planned for
the upcoming year including an interactive murder mystery, special
performances and 60th anniversary celebrations.

Season coupons are available for $30, which includes one ticket for each of
the three main productions or $60 for two tickets for each of the three main
