directed by Artistic Director Terrence Spivey, Sept. 17 - Oct. 17, 2004  =

Shange's landmark play was a breakthrough portrayal of the =
African-American female experience. From its conception in California in =
1974 to its highly acclaimed critical success at Joseph Papp's Public =
Theater and on Broadway, the Obie Award-winning for colored girls who =
have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf has excited, inspired, =
and transformed audiences all over the country.   It was a breakthrough =
portrayal of the black female experience woven with words, music and =
dance.  Spivey directed this classic in 2001 and brings the New York =
staging to Karamu.

The talented all female Cleveland cast consisting of  Ameena Brown, =
Kimberly Brown, Sonjia Bishop, Nina Domingue,  Monte Escalante, Elaine =
Stewart and Corene Woodford will take you on both a joyous celebration =
of a unique culture and a wrenchingly real portrait of the struggle.=20

Karamu continues  "A Moment with the MU" on Monday, September 13, 2004 =
from 1 pm to 2:30pm prior to Opening Night  in the Concert Hall.  Meet =
the cast, designers and directors  of the show, where you can feel free =
