FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

KSU'S SCHOOL OF THEATRE & DANCE IN SEARCH OF 2 CHILDREN ACTORS FOR SIX
CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF AN AUTHOR

Kent, Ohio - Kent State University's School of Theatre & Dance is in search
of two young actors for the production of Six Characters in Search of an
Author. Roles are available for one girl who plays between 4 - 6 years old
and one boy who plays between 8 - 10 years old. The girl will get wet, with
water, at the end of the play because the character has drowned. The girl
is still and quiet most of the play. The boy is quiet and vulnerable
throughout the play. He does commit suicide at the end of the play.
Character will be seen only in silhouette at the final moment. The
possibility exists that both roles will be double cast due to age. To
schedule an audition appointment with director Terry Burgler, please call
330-672-0113.

Directed by Terry Burgler, performances of Six Characters in Search of an
Author are Tuesday - Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 2 PM from October 8 -
17, 2004. Those auditioning must be able to attend all of these
performances. Children in the production will join the company in
mid-September. Rehearsals are Sunday through Monday evenings. Children
will not be called to all rehearsals and will be released from rehearsal
early most evenings until dress rehearsals and performances. Children would
be expected to attend all rehearsals during tech week beginning, Saturday,
October 2 until opening Friday, October 8.

Six Characters in Search of an Author does include adult language and
themes. Luigi Pirandello's benchmark play is about a family of unfinished
characters who take over the rehearsal of another work in order to have
their own story told. Pirandello's playful opening moments soon give way to
the horror of the story the characters have to tell. Though the characters
fight to have their scenes played out at last, they are often at
cross-purposes, unhappy with the actors' interpretations and arguing over
whom is at fault in their tragedy.

For more information regarding Six Characters in Search of an Author, the
auditions or to schedule an appointment please contact Terry Burgler at
330-672-0113 or tburgler at kent.edu.
