Miss Gulch Returns!

The Wicked Musical

=20

"It's unabashed entertainment, the kind best enjoyed with pals over a =
drink
or two while a cabaret performer bats double-entendres from her stool,"
exclaimed Cleveland Plain Dealer Reviewer Linda Eisenstein after =
viewing the
show last March.

=20

Nickolas Vannello once again brings Almira Gulch to life in this =
one-man
show with an armful of devastating new songs, an outrageous dress =
created by
Jeffrey Smart, a wig, a hat, a wicker basket, a grand piano, and voila =
--
MISS GULCH RETURNS!=20

 =20

Vannello does the old girl proud! All her dreams finally come true:
long-running New York engagements rife with raves,... a cult following =
of
her own... and, now regional appearances like the one which will be at
Kennedy's in Playhouse Square Center from October 15-30, 2004

=20

"Nickolas L. Vannello is at his best when he's playing off the =
energetically
supportive audience reactions. Vannello sells all the songs..." =
Christine
Howey - Cleveland Scene.

=20

But who is Almira Gulch? It's been many years since Dorothy and The =
Wizard
of Oz charmed America. But there's another side to the Oz legend: the =
dark
side of the rainbow.=20

=20

Poor Almira! For sixty years, this dog-snatching, basket-wielding =
spiteful
spinster-next-door has intrigued us, but has never had the chance to =
give us
her side of the story...until now! Here she is back in all the glory
Hollywood denied her.=20

Well, now its Almira's turn to give us her side of story! She has =
remained
misunderstood, underestimated, and unappreciated. And through the =
decades,
frustrated fans have hungered for solutions to the mysteries =
surrounding the
legendary Miss Gulch. Why does she ride that bike? What does she have
against neighborhood girls and their little dogs too? What becomes of =
her
after the tornado? Did she have a happy childhood? And most of all -- =
who is
the real woman beneath that ferocious fa=E7ade?

When playwright/lyricist Fred Barton accidentally met Margaret =
Hamilton, he
began a star-struck obsession that led to the development of Miss Gulch
Returns. In Miss Gulch, he finds the ideal icon for today's =
disillusioned
souls, the perfect symbol of the frustrated aspirations of our age.=20

The Bitch is back in all the glory Hollywood denied her. She sings (at
last!). She has a mean piano player by the name of Charles Eversole =
(and
what other kind?) She gives us the dirt. She dumps Hollywood and gives =
the
real world a try -- and lands a job as well as the next man (and lands =
the
next man, as well). She lays her soul bare, and yours if you dare. So =
turn
on the phone machine, turn Judy's picture to the wall, turn up the =
volume,
and welcome to the wit and wisdom of Miss Gulch -- "Entertainesse
Extraordinaire!"

"Kindly be advised that MISS GULCH RETURNS! isn't cabaret. It's =
theatre.
Fine theatre, too. It's one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. =
With
its riotous lyrics and smart tunes, a genuine poignancy underlies the =
wicked
laughter. MISS GULCH RETURNS! is a marvel. Pay a visit as soon as you =
can."
Michael Sommers, NY Native
