Swallow is an independent short film shooting in Dayton, Ohio October 15th, 16th, and 17th

Swallow is the story of two roommates, Sophie and Beth. Sophie’s idea of a great relationship is by being a pen pal to strangers all over the world, she believes the safest way to become close to someone is by staying far away and never revealing who you really are… Beth is somewhat paranoid and never really goes outside. One day Beth goes into Sophie’s room and reads her letters, she fantasizes about the one pen pal Sophie writes the most, Paul. Paul’s beautiful love letters captures Beth’s imagination and as she reads she finds out he is coming to visit. Beth figures she can make it to him first and pretend she’s Sophie but there’s something about Paul that neither woman knows. 

Character Description

Sophie: 20 something years old. Any Race. Sophie is preoccupied with human behavior, although she prefers to keep her distance; she is strong willed and very independent. Secretly she longs for the affections of another person, but can’t bear the thought of what the consequences may be. 

Beth: 20 something years old. Any Race. Beth is meek and frail. She appears as though she may break in half physically and emotionally at the wrong words or a strong push. She is somewhat paranoid of people’s intentions and tends to believe she’s always right about other people’s motives, which are usually bad in her mind and - her mind is where all of her relationships happen. She goes through quit a change in this short script and appears in almost all of the scenes. 

Paul: 20 something years old. Any Race. Paul is the guy that Beth envisions while reading Sophie’s letters. He is merely a figment of her imagination and nearly flawless in a dirty boy sort of way. He is everything she’s ever wanted, creative, quiet, strong, patient, aggressive, etc. etc. Is it possible? There are 3 different Pauls in the script. 

The Auditions will be held in Room T151 of the Creative Arts Center at Wright State University on:

Friday, October 8th from 5-8pm, and Saturday, October 9th from 2-8pm.
