I don't know what any of you guys are hitting yourself in the heads about trying to figure out the real meaning, if there are so many different beliefs out there, the answer is clear..... THERE IS NO MEANING, it was just said by somone a long time ago as a joke and it stuck, it is just like theatre people to wish good luck with a bad luck phrase.  Then somone twisted into into a bunch of different reasons it was said, then people started spreading everything around.
