Hudson Players Announce Cast, Ready You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown

The Hudson Players have cast their production of You’re A Good Man Charlie
Brown (Revival Version) and are busily rehearsing and readying it of opening
night on November 5, 2004 at Barlow Community Center located on Oviatt
Street in Hudson, across from the Hudson Fire Department.

You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown played for 1,597 performances in New York at
the Theatre 80 St. Marks in 1966. The show is best described as an average
day in the life of Charlie Brown. It is a day made up of little moments
picked from all the days of Charlie Brown, from Valentine's Day to the
baseball season, from wild optimism to utter despair, all mixed in with the
lives of his friends (both human and non-human) and strung together on the
string of a single day, from bright uncertain morning to hopeful starlit
evening.

In 1998 the authors and producers of the original 1966 musical show, You’re
A Good Man Charlie Brown, decided it was time for a major revival of the
work in a Broadway theatre. The idiomatic, intimate innocence of the
characters that is presented in the original stage production has been
maintained, but a new perspective has been added by emphasizing the
insatiable insouciance of the characters that was held in check in the
original.

The Hudson Players cast of characters includes Don Knepper as Charlie Brown,
Beth Alexander as Sally Brown, Johnny Rocco as Linus VanPelt, Ron Cuirle as
Schroeder, Mark Judy as Snoopy and Doug Lillibridge, Claudia Lillibridge,
Darlene Fonzi and Kirk Worcester as the rest of the Peanuts Gang. The show
is directed by Rich Jagunic, who last directed Fiddler on the Roof for the
Hudson Players. He was also director for the Hudson Players’ Ohio Community
Theater Award winning production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat among others.

Performances will be November 5, 6, 12, 13, 14*, 19 & 20 at 8 pm at the
Barlow Community Center. Curtain time is 8 p.m. with the November 14th
performance being a special 2 p.m. matinee. Tickets are $12, with student,
senior and group discounts available. Tickets can be purchased in advance at
the Learned Owl Bookstore on Main St in Hudson or reserved by call
330-655-8522. More information on the production and the rest of the Hudson
Players season is available via the Hudson Players website
(www.hudsonplayers.com) or by calling 330-655-8522.

Next up for the group will be a production of the revival version of Annie
Get Your Gun. Auditions will be held November 7 & 8, at 7 p.m. at the Barlow
Community Center, with the show scheduled to run February 4, 5, 11, 12, 18,
19, 20, 25 & 26.

The Hudson Players are one of the area’s longest running community theaters
and are members of the Hudson Chamber of Commerce, The Ohio Community
Theatre Association and the American Association of Community Theater. The
Hudson Players are a non-profit 501-C-3 organization.
