CESEAR'S FORUM Press Release
2796 Tinkers Lane FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
Twinsburg, OH 44087 Contact: Greg Cesear
E-mail: CESEARSFORUM @ AOL.COM (330) 405-3045
_______________________________________________________________
Cesear's Forum is pleased to announce that it has received a matching grant
of $1,600
from the Ohio Arts Council. This grant was awarded through the Special
Opportunity
Program and will support actor salaries for the upcoming production of Jean
Anouilh's
THE LARK, adapted by Christopher Fry and Lillian Hellman. THE LARK tells the
story
of the trial of Joan of Arc as a play within a play. Nationalism, war and
religion are key
elements of Joan's story, a polarizing figure, whose individual leadership
was
embraced and rejected by the conflicting political policies of her time, with
an echo of
our own. Performances are Friday & Saturday at 8pm, November 5th through
December
11th. All seats $15, Playhouse Square Center, 1501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland.
Call
Tickets.com at (216) 241-6000.
"We are grateful that the Arts Council is able to provide this assistance,
particularly
given the current economic climate," said Board President Linda Regan. State
grants are
awarded through a competitive process. Cesear's Forum, founded in Chicago
and
now in its sixth season in Cleveland, presents plays of social commitment and
theatre
experimentation, works that are unconventional, new or lesser known. The
grant
requires matching state tax dollars with additional public and private funds.
Past OAC support has encouraged grants from the George Gund Foundation, the
Cyrus
Eaton Foundation as well as ongoing support from private individuals and
corporations.
The mission of the OAC is to build Ohio through the arts - economically,
educationally
and culturally - preserving the past, enhancing the present and enriching the
future for
all Ohioans. Cesear's Forum is pleased to serve as an additional resource,
creating
literate, visceral affecting theatre at an affordable price. For additional
information,
contact the Cesear's Forum office at (330) 405-3045.
