Cleveland Public Theatre SAYS “Everybody dance now!” -- DANCEWORKS 05 Winter
series
November 26 - December 12, 2004

Cleveland, OH - Cleveland Public Theatre’s Executive/Artistic Director Randy
Rollison is proud to announce Danceworks 05, the return of the popular,
critically acclaimed festival of contemporary dance, featuring seven of
Northeast Ohio’s best companies.  Performing imaginative and groundbreaking
works that showcases Northern Ohio’s vibrant dance community, this year’s
program will feature a special holiday series that runs November 26th to
December 12th in the Gordon Square Theatre, with performances from African
Soul, Neos Dance Theatre, and MorrisonDance.  Following in the spring of
2005 will be a second series, from March 31st to April 24th, featuring
performances from GroundWorks Dancetheater, VERB Ballets, Inlet Dance
Theatre, and SAFMOD.  This festival-like celebration has been described by
The Cleveland Plain Dealer as “Impressive, lyrical, evocative.”  The Akron
Beacon Journal calls DanceWorks  “Intelligent, fresh, invigorating.”

The winter series performances will be held Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00
p.m., and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $24 for Fridays and
Saturdays, $19 for Sundays, and a flat rate of $10 for patrons under age 25.

African Soul Dance Theater

community through traditional African dance, music, and folklore, Jackson’s
dance company brings to CPT a vibrant and exciting show. Teaming up with the
Kombe Acrobats, this award winning troupe’s non-stop, high-energy live
drumming and dancing features a positive storyline that reminds you that we
all have something to celebrate.  Patrons will not want to miss this
internationally renowned ensemble of children and adult dancers and acrobats
Thanksgiving weekend.  African Soul makes its Danceworks debut.

dance company based in Ashland, OH. Neos combines music, dance and theatre
to create seamless, harmonious, beautiful dance.  Inspired by the awe of the
created world and driven by the task to fill it with excellence, Neos’
company of refined and classically trained dancers pushes the limits of
stamina and athleticism, while using tender artistry to evoke thoughtful
emotion. The wide variety of movement and style that Neos offers is the
perfect showcase for these fine-performing artists.

This season, MorrisonDance presents Several, a showcase of dances by some of
the company’s longtime collaborating choreographers: Heather Baur, Maree
ReMalia, Sarah Morrison, and special guest artists.  Don’t miss the eighth
season of dance provided by MorrisonDance, a Cleveland-based company
presenting imaginative creations locally, nationally and internationally.
MD pushes the boundaries of dance by exploring unusual presentation and
rehearsal venues, by experimenting with cross-disciplinary approaches to
creation and education, and by encouraging creative collaborations with
other artistic media, science, nature and technology.
