The Hudson Players Hold Auditions Tonight for the Revival Version of Annie
Get Your Gun.

Auditions will be held tonight (November 9), at 7 p.m. at the Barlow
Community Center with the show scheduled to run February 4, 5, 11, 12, 18,
19, 20, 25 & 26. The show will be directed by Allen White. Lots of great
roles available.

Based loosely on the true story of Annie Oakley (from Dark County, Ohio) the
heroine is a rough and tumble backwoods girl who is the star of Buffalo
Bill's Wild West Show and more than handy with a rifle. The winner of two
1999 TONY awards including best Musical Revival, the show has been called
"Irving Berlin's greatest achievement in the theater." It follows Annie’s
story as she rises to fame by defeating famed sharp shooter Frank Butler
(whom she defeated and married in real life). She betrays that she is an
uncultivated female who only knows to do that which comes naturally to her.
Frank is a big, sentimental fellow who is attracted only to sweet and demure
girls. Annie finds Frank appealing, but seems to be a bit too independent
for him. They do have one thing in common though, show business, and with
Buffalo Bill they proceed to sing its praises and provide a great time for
all.
Annie Oakley’s feats in real life were as legendary as her feats in the
show. At thirty paces she shot a dime from between her husbands thumb and
forefinger with a .22 rifle. Once she hit 943 out of 1000 flying balls in a
rapid fire demonstration. Annie died in Greenville, Ohio on November 3,
1926. Frank Butler died eighteen days later. They are buried side by side,
and the show lives on to tell the story of how they met and thrilled
audiences.

All roles are available. All actors are requested to come ready to sing a
prepared song. Please bring sheet music. No recordings, a cappella
auditions or church hymns, please. Also please come dressed for movement,
as there will be a short dance audition for all.
