comedy. (Discretion is Advised). A play by Jonathan Reynolds. Directed =
by Hassan Rogers.

What the critics are saying...

GIVE KARAMU ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Terrence Spivey and executive director =
Gerry McClamy credit for taking the risk of scheduling a theatrical =
satire that's about as un-PC as you could find.=20
Kimberly Brown is clearly talented as both LaWanda and the driven =
actress.
-James Damico,The Cleveland Free Times

Think of the United States as one big, rambling house, and Americans as =
the extended family that lives there - black, white, Hispanic, Arab, =
Jew, Christian, atheist. So why can't we all just get along? "Because! =
Hating each other is a lot more fun!"=20
The Karamu production boasts a solid, atmospheric set by John Konopka, =
a psychologically complex LaWanda from actress Kimberly Brown, and =
strong supporting performances from Timothy Squirek and Susan Lucier as =
the well-read rednecks, and David and Kate Duffield as the living-room =
liberals.
 -Tony Brown, Cleveland Plain Dealer

The play skewers every "ism" in the book - from racism and sexism to =
multiculturalism and bleeding-heart liberalism - with a lot of laughs =
and food for thought along the way. This is a gutsy piece of stagecraft =
that injects a shot of adrenaline into Cleveland's conservative theater =
scene.=20
Kimberly L. Brown plays it just right as the bored, down-on-her-luck =
guide LaWanda, who rolls her eyebrows, speaks in a monotone, and =
examines her fingernails.=20
-Fran Heller, Cleveland Jewish News

Kimberly Brown gives the best performance as LaWanda, surfing her =
character's free-floating antiliberal paranoia with passion and purpose. =
David Duffield and Kate Duffield as the older couple also have many =
engaging moments. -Christine Howey, Cleveland Scene
