CLEVELAND CONTEMPORARY DANCE THEATER PresentsThe Night Before Christmas
Conceived, directed and choreographed by Executive/Artistic Director Michael Medcalf and written by local playwright, Margaret Lynch, CCDT’s The Night Before Christmas tells the story of a young sister and brother, Symphony and Paris, who, despite loving foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pastor, wish only to be reunited with their birth parents for Christmas.

Orchestrated by their very own Fairy Godmother, portrayed this year by the fabulous award-winning actress Nina Domingue (the lady in red in Karamu’s production of for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf), and the Sugar Rum cherries, a defunct Las Vegas showgirl act with their manager Ruby portrayed by actress Linda Berger. Also, leading the cast of actors is the multi-talented actor/director/storyteller Hassan Rogers who portrays Mr. Pastor with verve and delicious humor.

Symphony and Paris find themselves swept up in a fantastic and emotionally charged dance and theater experience. They have many exciting adventures and discover unexpected revelations while traveling the globe with scenes from Africa, China and New York City. This family friendly production features Billy Strayhorn’s jazz inspired Nutcracker Suite orchestrated by the legendary Duke Ellington and jumps with gospel, world music and more.
