The Play
      John & Dot are wonderfully in love, in spite of the difference in thei=
r=20
ages. Their infant son is less than a year old. Tackleton, who is planning o=
n=20
taking a young wife, plants a seed of doubt in John=E2=80=99s mind. Could a=20=
young,=20
beautiful woman really love an older man, and remain faithful?
      On his delivery route, John picks up an elderly stranger who ends up=20
moving in with the couple.
      Caleb and his blind daughter, Bertha, are toymakers in Tackleton=E2=
=80=99s=20
employ. Caleb has created an imaginary world for his daughter where everythi=
ng is=20
beautiful, although they are desperately poor. Their poverty led his son=20
Edward to seek his fortune in South America, only to die in his pursuit of r=
iches.
     Edward left behind his fiancee, May Fielding who is now being forced to=
=20
marry Tackleton by her mother.
