As community festivities begin, The Players Guild Theatre of Canton
announces the return of the holiday favorite, A Christmas Carol. This
adaptation, by Tom Creamer, premiered at The Goodman Theatre in Chicago,
and has continued to enjoy a successful run.

R. Scott Posey of Tallmadge will serve as guest artistic director. "A
Christmas Carol has always been one of my favorite pieces of
literature," Posey states. "In fact, it was the first 'professional'
production I remember seeing as a child." A quarter of a century later
finds Scott directing the show whose vivid imagery still haunts him.

Michael O'Brien, who played Bob Cratchit in last year's production, now
graces the stage as the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge.  Many Christmas Carol
veterans are among the talented cast, including Joe Martuccio, Tony
Snyder, Minnie Sue Waidman and Stephanie Newport.=20

Dickens' charming tale is brought to life complete with flying ghosts,
dazzling special effects, and a company of live stage musicians under
the musical direction of Steve Parsons. This is truly a not-to-be-missed
holiday event.

In keeping of the spirit of the season, The Players Guild Theatre is
partnering with the Hunger Task Force of Stark County during A Christmas
Carol. The Players Guild will be accepting donations of non-perishable
foods and monetary gifts at every performance.

The Players Guild Theatre's A Christmas Carol, sponsored by the Aultman
Health Foundation and The Canton Repository, will begin Friday, November
26 and continue through Sunday, December 19, with performances Thursdays
through Saturdays at 8:00, and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $17, and
can be purchased by calling the Players Guild Box Office at
