The Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra =
that was founded in 1938 by three Cleveland area musicians. Initially, =
the orchestra was formed as a young people's symphony, to give concerts =
and to serve as a training ground for those musicians interested in =
professional careers. Over the years, the CPO has expanded its focus to =
provide musicians of all ages a means of performing symphonic music. The =
CPO, comprised of about 60 musicians, performs affordable programs =
comparable to the quality of significantly more expensive offerings.
William B. Slocum has served as Music Director of the Cleveland =
Philharmonic Orchestra since 1981. Previously, Mr. Slocum was conductor =
of the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra in Wyoming. Andr=E9a Belding attended =
the Kent/Blossom Music Festival and participated in a side-by-side =
concert with the Cleveland Orchestra. This fall she returns, as =
concertmaster of the Cleveland Philharmonic for the 2004-2005 season and =
in December will be featured as soloist with the CPO in the Beethoven =
Violin Concerto.=20
Proceeds benefit Zion United Church of Christ of Tremont. There is =
ample parking and the building is handicap accessible.
Music is an important part of Zion UCC's community ministry. Zion =
UCC hosts a variety of concerts and recitals. Along with the twice =
weekly Drop-in Center and Saturday Drop-in Meals Program for the =
homeless, Zion UCC of Tremont strives to offer food for the body, food =
for the mind and food for the spirit.
