Karamu Performing Arts Theater announces auditions for its upcoming =
production of the comedy "Johnnie Taylor is Gone" by Gregory S. Carr. =
This comedy was selected from last Spring's 12th Annual R. Joyce Whitley =
Arena Festival of New Works. It will be directed by Caroline =
Jackson-Smith. Auditions are Dec. 6th and 8th in the Concert Hall at =
Karamu from 6pm to 8pm. Roles are available for 6 African-American =
males and 4 African-American females ages 20-40 (Brief synopsis and =

SYNOPSIS=20
The Golden Zodiac Lounge, a bar in North St. Louis, is a haven for a =
colorful group of "Old School" misfits, led by the owner, Will Strong. =
In their world, Johnnie Taylor is king, and Koko Taylor is queen, until =
a "New Jack" entrepreneur wants to settle a score and turn the bar into =
a Hip-Hop club. Religion, politics, sports and music provide fodder in =
this new comedy.
