Spend a Sunday Evening with Scrooge

You've read it. You've seen it on television. Come to Weathervane =
Playhouse and see Scrooge and Tiny Tim in a new adaptation of Charles =
Dickens' A Christmas Carol, December 12th at 7 p.m. The adaptation is by =
Jeffrey Flood and S.W. Senek and is presented through Weathervane's =
Sundays at Seven: Salon Reading Series.

Flood is a graduate of Castleton State College (Vermont) and also =
studied costume design at West Virginia University. His other writings =
include the play Henry's Garden and Anna Stories, a novel. Senek, =
received his degree in theatre from Youngstown State University and =
currently lives in New Jersey. He is now actively pursuing his =
playwriting career on the east coast where several professional theatres =
have read or staged his prize-winning works. His play Parent-Teacher =
Conference was included in Sandusky's 2004 Lakespeare Festival. In =
addition to Weathervane's reading of A Christmas Carol, the Packard =
Music Hall in Warren is producing the play this holiday season.

Penny Frese directs the reading. Her directing credits include Coach =
House Theatre, Kent State University and Hiram College. For Weathervane =
she has directed Dracula, Of Mice and Men, Tartuffe, and The Diary of =
Anne Frank. Her production of Conversations With My Father received a =
Weathervane Chanticleer award for the 1995-1996 season. "This will be a =
festive reading of a play that is faithful to the original novel in plot =
and language," says Frese. The cast includes Steve Wright as Scrooge, =
Bill Berry, David Myers, Al and Marifrances Conrad, Barry Friedman, Dede =
Klein, Emily Turner, Lorena Goold, Isabella Baker, Banno Rothman and Ian =
Bolden.

Weathervane's Salon Reading Series provides exposure to new plays and =
playwrights. Audience members have the opportunity to provide feedback =
in discussions following the reading. Refreshments are also served.

The free evening reading of A Christmas Carol takes place at 7 p.m. on =
December 12th in the Weathervane lobby. Weathervane Community Playhouse =
is located at 1301 Weathervane Lane in Akron's Merriman Valley.
