Musical Theater Voice Workshop with Megan Brack
Prepare for auditions with the Musical Theater Voice Workshop!  This =
workshop will focus on character development through vocal work on a =
particular song.  Students are asked to bring several prepared musical =
theater selections.  The instructor will give suggestions on how to =
present material for an audition or in a performance setting and make =
vocal choices while becoming the character.  Just in time to sharpen up =
your vocal technique for auditions at the high school!

Be A Star Audition Workshop with Sean Booker
If =93all the world=92s a stage=94...then you better audition well!  The =
goal of this workshop is to prepare your monologue for consistent success =
in school, university or general theatrical auditions. Students will work =
on and discuss their monologues, cold readings, callbacks, making choices =
on stage and audition-room etiquette.  Each student is asked to bring one =
monologue of interest to them.

Indian Classical Dances: A Short Introduction with Arunima Ghosh
India is a very diverse country with particular dance forms expressing by =
each cultural group. This workshop will introduce the diversity and =
different forms of Indian dance while demonstrating a common identity =
among them. This workshop will include an introduction of the various =
dances followed by the basic gestures and movements of each form.

Modern jazz dance is a style of theatrical dance that rejects the =
limitations of classical ballet.  This type of workshop will inspire =
students to explore movement derived from their own inner feelings.  This =
style of dance will be evoked from the dancers with influential rhythms =
from jazz music. =20

Children have the day off from school! Why not spend the day at SCA in a =
workshop with kids of all ages?  From paint to plaster, young artists =
experiment with a variety of materials and techniques. Students work on =
individual and collaborative projects while learning about art history and =

Bring the whole family to the Center=92s newest workshop! Learn to make a =
variety of colorful tie-dye patterns from JoAnn Giordano, a professional =
textile artist. Create exciting pattern and color effects on fabric with =
tie-dye: the art of folding or binding fabric in different ways before =
dyeing it with fiber reactive dyes. Make samples of various techniques, =
dye cotton squares and make a rainbow dyed t-shirt. Examples of tie-dye =
fabrics from around the world will be shown.=20


Sumi-E Workshop

Sumi-e is a form of Japanese ink painting that developed from the practice =
of Japanese calligraphy. It uses only black ink in various concentrations =
and there is no drawing involved. Sumi-e is a very calming, simple and =
elegant type of painting that concentrates mainly on brush handling to =
prepare the student for any type of painting.  Patience is essential in =
brush painting. The artist=92s mind should be tranquil, reflecting on the =
painting as the brush strokes are used to communicate the essence of the =
subject.
*Students are asked to bring two different sized Sumi brushes available at =
any major art supplies store.
