Last December, Alan Higbee won the 2003 "Welcome Christmas!" Carol Contest
with his new setting of "In the Bleak Midwinter"  for choir and oboe.  He
notes that he wrote the oboe part with Akron Symphony oboist Cynthia Watson
(Sperl) in mind. An interview with Alan along with the complete VocalEssence
"Welcome Christmas!" concert can be heard on local Cleveland radio. It is
scheduled for broadcast on 90.3WCPN at 8:00 p.m. on December 23rd 2004.
