The Players Guild Theatre

1001 Market Avenue North=20

Canton, Ohio =20

The Players Guild Theatre of Canton is excited to announce auditions
for its first ever High School Shakespeare Festival production of Romeo
and Juliet. This event will involve high school students in all facets
of production including set and costume design, acting, technical
theatre, stage management, costume and set construction. All high school
students are eligible to participate. Participants will also work with
Guest Director Jason King Jones of Jersey City, New Jersey. A
distinguished director with experience in mounting Shakespeare
productions across the country, among Mr. Jones' impressive resume of
credits are Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and Timon of Athens for The
Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, A Midsummer Night's Dream at Nebraska
Wesleyan University and Twelfth Night for the Shakespeare Festival of
Los Angeles.

=20

The Players Guild's Romeo and Juliet workshop begins on the weekend of
December 18, when both the auditions for Romeo and Juliet and the finals
of the Set Design Competition will take place. The Set Design
Competition was created to encourage the inception of a high school
student scenic design for this production so that all creative aspects
of Romeo and Juliet except those contributions by its director are
generated by students. The winning design will be chosen by the Director
and a panel of theatre professionals on Saturday, December 18. It is not
too late to enter the design competition, which requires High School
students to present their design in models and illustrated renderings.
You must contact the Guild's Artistic Coordinator immediately if you are
eligible and interested in submitting a design for the competition.

=20

The auditions for Romeo and Juliet will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday,
December 18 and at 12:30 PM on Sunday, December 19, 2004. Students who
wish to audition must be available for a possible callback on Sunday,
December 19 at 6:00 PM. The director requires all students to come with
a memorized Shakespeare monologue one to one and a half minutes in
length.

Arnold, Artistic Coordinator of The Players Guild Theatre of Canton at
