Five remarkable plays were pleasant surprises
by Herb Hammer, December 23rd
Chagrin Valley Times
Chagrin Valley Little Theatre
has
Two out of the Five
shows mentioned!!!!!
The nice surprises of 2004 came at the most surprising places. When =
sorting through about 40 local theater experiences, I found five =
individually remarkable efforts, all of which are worth savoring.
After seeing "Laughter on the 23rd Floor", performed by a professional =
company, it appeared to be time to write off Neil Simon. His material =
had lost is spark. Or has it?
Chagrin Valley Little Theatre took a chance with this play and was able =
to turn a tired script into a joyful surprise. Director Carol Jaffee =
Pribble assembled a group of brilliant stage comics who took worn-out =
gags and made them enormously funny. Miss Pribble and her cast worked =
one of the year's few minor miracles.
Another big surprise at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre was Ray Cooney's =
"Caught in the Net". Director Barb Rhoades, whose skill at directing =
British farce is well known, outdid herself last April with this one.
Brad Baker and Rick Carter played the lead characters and were able to =
keep you laughing from beginning to end.
Thanks Herb!!!!!

The other shows mentioned in the article are:
"Reefer Madness" - Beck Center
"The Summer of 42" - Kalliope Stage
"Free Will and Wonton Lust" - Convergence Continuum
