Dear NeohioPal:
 
I often see post regarding items needed or being given away. I recommend checking into Freecycle.org. This is a world-wide movement with local chapters. The basic rules are that you can post any item you wish to give away (including pets) or request any item you need. Nothing may be traded or sold. Nothing obscene. Check the web site for all the details.
 
Once on the list you tend to get a lot of emails all the time, so be prepared for a deluge. Maybe you know how to channel specific emails into designated folders or something. 
 
The list works. Among other things, I've received rocks for my garden, a bird bath, a computer desk, a solid oak drafting table and some concrete sealer. There's lots of stuff being offered all the time and I've often seen someone on this list needing something that I've seen on the Freecycle list. I think the arts community could benefit from this.
