We've had some questions about the "featured roles" in Jane Eyre, the Musical, so I'll try to give everyone a more detailed idea of what we are looking for.

There are other roles not mentioned here, but these are the ones that come to mind off the top of my head. The way the show will be cast is that EVERYONE will have spoken lines and EVERYONE will sing. No one will be cast just to serve as "window dressing". Many of these featured roles will have major solos.

We looking for young girls 8-16 to play...

Young Jane, (innocent but strong willed, 8-12)
Helen, (Jane's friend, kind, spiritual, 13-16)
Adele, (a young coquette, spirited and fun, 8-12)
Also a girls' ensemble to play the children at the school...all sing

We're looking for woman from 16-60s to play parts such as...

Mrs. Fairfax, (comedic, any age)
Miss Ingram, (flirty, not too bright, definitely a soprano, 16-20s)
Mrs. Reed, (cold and heartless, great death scene, 40-60s)
Bertha, (the mad woman in the attic, 30-50s)
Grace, (Bertha's nurse, difficult acting role I think, any age)
Lady Ingram, (a snob, 40-50s)
Miss Scatcherd, (small minded, strict, any age)

We're looking for men from 16-60s to play parts such as...

John Reed, (a bully and a brat, would like to cast him around 16, but may consider younger)
Mr. Brocklehurst, (overbearing, cold and pompous, 40-60s)
Mr. Eashton, (local magistrate, charming but not too bright, 40-60s)
Lord Ingram, (a bored snob, 20-30s)
Richard Mason, (wealthy, well educated, has a guilty secret, 30s-50s)
St. John, (local minister, kind, in love with Jane, 20-30s)

...and, of course...

Jane Eyre, (quiet, self possessed, a governess, 20-30)
Edward Rochester, (sophisticated, intelligent, demanding with a definite dark sex appeal, 40-50)

Both these roles require strong singer/actors.

If you have any more questions, please let me know; otherwise hope to see you on Monday or Tuesday, January 24-25 at 7:00. Please prepare at least 16 bars of music. Accompanist will be provided.
