Chagrin Valley Times - 1/27/05 by Herb Hammer

  a.. It's not often that a play can be heartwarming, thought-provoking =
and funny all at the same time. Tom Duzick's "Over the Tavern" is one =
such play, a play whose very simplicity leads you down a road of =
complexities. In other words, "Over the Tavern" is a very good play.

a.. On Edmond Wolff's outstanding set at Chagrin Valley Little =
Theatre, we visit the Pazinski family's apartment above Chet Pazinski's =
bar.

a.. Carol Jaffe Pribble directs and does her best work to date, giving =
the play its spirit and its life. She does as much for "Over the =
Tavern" as it author. She has surrounded herself with a superlative =
cast.

a.. Rudy, played with a wink and a nod by Andrew Miller, is an =
unusually brave 12-year old....Andrew is just right in the role.

a.. Bob Abelman, as the ever-angry patriarch Chet, is a splendid =
throwback of an overworked, joyless father of the 1950's.

a.. Susan Spitz Hennenberg is a triumph in the role of Chet's wife, =
Ellen.

a.. Megan Roose hugs the role of the young daughter Annie searching =
for her identity as a grown up, and Corey Harper is smartly rebellious =
as the oldest child Eddie.

a.. As the mentally challenged Georgie, Chris McCarrell has an =
irresistible cuteness that tugs your heart.
  b..=20
c.. Rita Kueber, in the difficult role of Sister Clarissa, give the =
character dimension.

a.. Chagrin Valley Little Theatre has given us a gem. Tell everyone =
you know.
